I am a retired university lecturer in human resource management. Prior to this I spent thirteen years in a local Catholic secondary school as the Head of English and Drama. After ten very interesting years as a magistrate, I have recently retired but still feel that I want to serve my local community; being a foundation governor for the Federation of local Catholic primary schools is a natural expression of my belief in Catholic education and reflects my occupational background.
Next year I will celebrate forty years of marriage to Jean. We have a daughter, Jessica, whom we do not see as often as we would like as she and her husband have recently moved from London to Winchester.
I enjoy walking in the Dales with friends, reading and woodwork. I am also a member of the Little Theatre in Gateshead which means I get to act in the occasional play.
I have organised the rota for readers and ministers at Our Lady Queen of Martyrs as well as reading myself, for several years now . It was where I was married in the parish where I still live.
