I was a governor at St Joseph’s, Ushaw Moor for several years, starting as parent governor, before I was appointed a foundation governor.
I served as Vice-Chair of St Joseph’s Governing Body, and after one year as a Federation with Our Lady Queen of Martyrs I was elected Chair of the federated Governing Body. My three children attended St Joseph’s … the eldest started school in 1990, so my association with the school goes back many years. I feel privileged to work with dedicated staff and fellow-governors, lively and enthusiastic children and committed parents and grandparents.
My working life is in Durham University Library, where my responsibilities include liaising with the School of Education, recently rated top Education department in the UK.
I’m also a volunteer at Ushaw College, and I encourage everyone to visit that wonderful place of history, heritage and hospitality, just up the hill from our schools.
